Bunnies are cute, but know before you get one that they can be challenging pets

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Every year in the weeks and months after Easter, a wave of rabbits turns up at animal shelters, abandoned by people who bought them for the holiday but changed their minds.

Turns out, cute little bunnies can be challenging pets. If you're thinking about getting one for Easter or any other time, here are a few things to keep in mind from Marc Morrone, host of Hallmark Channel's "Petkeeping with Marc Morrone," where one of his sidekicks is a rabbit named Harvey, brought to him by police who found him abandoned 10 years ago.

—Rabbits can be trained to walk on a leash or harness, but you can't let them play freely outside; they are prey to snakes, hawks, owls, dogs, foxes, cats, raccoons and people. "Bunnies are an animal that the entire world eats," Morrone said. "Bunnies live in a state of perpetual anxiety that somebody's going to eat them. Once they realize no one is going to eat them, they relax and you can see their true nature come out."

—You must be prepared to commit to pet care for about a decade. Rabbits usually live eight to 12 years and can only be called bunnies for about six months.

—Rabbits get nervous if you pick them up but let their feet dangle, and that can be a problem for kids who like to carry around small pets. When a rabbit is being held in such a way that it feels nervous, it will kick, and that can upset some kids. Mother rabbits don't pick up and carry their young, Morrone said, so nothing prepares them to be carted around.

—Rabbits are small, but their vet bills will be similar to those for dogs or cats. They have to be spayed or neutered, they get hairballs and diseases, and they need their nails trimmed by professionals, Morrone said.

—Rabbits are unhappy in cages and need room to romp, but the space has to be bunny-proofed because they are constantly chewing. If there are lots of wires, expensive moulding or rugs, letting them loose in the house can be dangerous to them and costly for you. They need alternatives like grass mats and wicker baskets.

—They shed and must be brushed daily, and while they are clean and can be trained to use a litter box, it can get smelly, like a cat's.

—They prefer air-conditioning and companion rabbits.

—Because a rabbit is not as expressive as a dog or as vocal as a cat, it takes time and understanding to get in tune with a rabbit, Morrone said.

But he added: "They are extremely affectionate. They have a complex communication system like foot-thumping and chin-rubbing."

Foot-thumping is a way of acknowledging something or someone. "If I walk into a room, my rabbits will stamp their feet to let the other rabbits know, 'Hey, Daddy's here,'" Morrone said.

Rabbits are usually mute, but in distress, they make a high-pitched scream, and if annoyed, they grunt.

If you do decide to get a rabbit, Morrone recommends adopting it from a shelter or rescue group and learning all you can about them online from the House Rabbit Society.

"People begin dropping rabbits off at shelters a couple of weeks after Easter and continue through mid-late summer," said Adam Goldfarb, director of the Pets at Risk Program for The Humane Society of the United States. "The novelty wears off for the kids, the rabbit gets relegated to the basement or garage. When the parents get tired of taking care of the rabbit, they either surrender the rabbit to a shelter or rescue group or 'set it free' in a park," where most are picked off by predators or die of exposure.

Bottom line, said Morrone: "Rabbits do make good pets but they are only good pets for the right people. The main issue is commitment."

	Evangelion 2.0: You Can (not) Advance Anime Review  Just when you thought it was safe to say things make sense, another Evangelion movie comes out. Known for being head scratchingly odd, complex, and (we believe) brilliant, movie two (of four) picks up right where 1.0: You Are (not) Alone leaves off.  Yet, whereas 1.0 was mostly introductory, and reintroduced viewers to a world they already knew, 2.0 punches audiences and reminds them they don't know jack about what's going on. If we need a stronger allegory, 1.0 is a scalpel, making slight incisions into the plot, in order to show us the hidden insight. This is contrasted by the sledgehammer of 2.0, which shatters the pinata, raining down candy on us gleeful children.  While we continue to reference the first movie, it should be said that it is borderline required viewing. A retelling of the beginning episodes, a veteran (who probably should have seen the first movie on principal) could wing it. You Can (not) Advance will be 100% required for each subsequent movie. Everything about the film has been ratcheted up, and the cast of characters and linage of events is inexorably altered.  This is not to say the film doesn't reward loyalists. Piles of nuances scream out, gaining additional value not in spite of changes, but because of them. Fan favorites such as enigmatic Kaji Ryoji and ace pilot Asuka Langely Soryu make their Rebuild debut, while introducing us to a few new angels and the fourth child, Mari Illustrious Makinami. The later provides an increasingly large variable. Mari is an entirely new pilot, representing a faction outside of N.E.R.V. At risk of insinuating too much, I look forward to her contributions in films to come.  Yet, the real mastery in this film isn't what changed, its what's surprisingly still the same. Despite what appear to be shocking changes, the Evangelion series is still about people. Plot aside, the core of it all is still an incredibly interesting character study.  Though it barely needs stating, the incredible production value persists. Riff with beautifully drawn sequences, it's the quality we have come to expect. Ignoring stylistic preference, Evangelion continues to set the bar for how technology and animation can blend.  Reviewed by John Martone , April 2011  Evangelion 1.01 Anime DVD Review All this anime fan has to say about this is... "OH YEAH BABY!!!"  There is only a handful of anime that can truly be deemed revolutionary. Yamato, Gundam, Macross... and Evangelion. And we're living in a world where it is now normal to take an existing franchise and "reboot" it (i.e., Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, "V").  So, what have we got here? Simply one of the greatest things I've seen in a very long time. Unbelievably amazing in every aspect. Looking like it had an unlimited budget, the film is a feast for the eyes -- seriously, this is the way the series SHOULD have looked, with crisp, clean lines and spectacular action sequences. Not that the original was that bad, after all, we're talking about GAINAX, but, I mean.. this is just... Wow. You're sitting there with your jaw open, thinking "oh... my... god..."  This film (the first of four) covers episodes one through six at a mind-numbing 98-minute breakneck pace. While some of the character development suffers in the compressed timeframe, all the angst and self-doubt is still there, along with all the nail-biting suspense and cryptic plots twists. Every anime fan should be giddy with delight at the prospect of seeing this flick. It's not just a "reboot", it's like being born again.  Reviewed by Brian Cirulnick, January 2010  Neon Genesis Evangelion — The End of Evangelion Anime DVD Review Now that Evangelion has enjoyed an unbroken run on Cartoon Network, you probably think you've seen it all. Grit your teeth, settle down and throw away the last two episodes of the TV series. Here's the movie that essentially re-does the ending, changing things so that they make a bit more sense (depending upon your outlook), as director Hideaki Anno recreates the epic of epics and settles, once and for all, the greatest anime series of all time. This unrated feature, suitable for ages 17 and older, contains considerable violence, profanity, grotesque imagery, and sexual situations. So, hide the kids from this, it's a much more an adult epic than the TV series was, appealing to a mature generation of fans who grew up watching it. The 'myth' of the situation is that the final two episodes of the TV series were created in a rush, in that sponsor funding was cut and pressure was placed upon Gainax to end the series differently from what was originally scripted. The original scripts were then rescued from the trash can and became the basis for this movie, making this the one true ending as originally envisioned. Or, it could be that fans were so shocked and appalled by the TV series ending that they decided to redo it all over again to save face. Who knows what the real story is - truth can be a fickle maiden. All we care is that this film kicks ass and sorta' like the film '2001 a Space Odyssey' you take with it what you are willing to put in, -and- there's still quite a bit left to the interpretation of the viewer, so that fans will STILL argue about the ending decades after the series is over. Nevertheless, if you've even the slightest interest in Evangelion, you owe it yourself to see this and make up your own mind regarding what the hell is going on. And what a series it is! Neon Genesis Evangelion may be one of the most dramatic, thought-provoking, intelligent, emotionally charged TV series ever made, animated or otherwise.  The tale centers around Shinji, who is unwillingly selected to pilot Evangelion Unit 01 (by his father, to whom he has no love), to defend the Earth against mysterious aliens known only as "Angels". Don't mistake this series for "just another robot show", the robot isn't the center of the story or even the action. It's the characters and their three-dimensionality that bring this to life. So much so that fans of the series hotly debate the justifications and motivations behind the characters of the story. All this combines with Anno Hideaki's super-skillful direction, which breaks the mold for anime, presenting an unusual assortment of film noir, experimental cinema, hints of Sergei Eisenstein, and emotional allegorical sequences similar to what you'd see in something like Ingmar Bergman's "Wild Strawberries". This is anime for fans of film, and this is anime for fans of anime. Once you get absorbed into the story and the characters, you'll wonder why all anime, or even all TV shows and Movies aren't like this. The History and Legends of Anne Bonney and Mary Read 

Anne Bonney and Mary Read are the most famous -- and ferocious -- women pirates in history, and they are the only ones known to have plied their trade in the Western Hemisphere. 

Anne Bonney, born in County Cork, Ireland, was the illegitimate daughter of lawyer William Cormac and his housemaid. They immigrated to America after Anne's birth in the late 1600s and settled on a plantation near Charleston, South Carolina. A headstrong young woman "with a fierce and courageous temper," she eloped with a young ne'er-do-well, James Bonney, against her father's wishes. James took her to a pirates' lair in New Providence in the Bahamas, but in 1718, when Bahamian Governor Woodes Rogers offered the King's pardon to any pirate, James turned informant. Anne was disgusted with his cowardice and soon after, she met and fell in love with the swaggering pirate Captain Jack Rackham. Disguising herself as a male, she began sailing with him on his sloop Vanity, with its famous skull-and-crossed-daggers flag, preying on Spanish treasure ships off Cuba and Hispaniola. It is reported that she became pregnant by Jack and retired from piracy only long enough to have her baby and leave it with friends in Cuba before rejoining him and her adventurous life on the high seas. 

Mary Read was born at Plymouth, England, about 1690. Her mother's husband was a sea-faring man who left on a long voyage and was never heard from again. He'd left his wife pregnant and she gave birth to a sickly male child who died soon after the illegitimate birth of his half-sister, Mary. The mother waited years for her husband to return and when her money ran out, she took Mary to London to appeal to her mother-in-law for financial help. She knew this old woman disliked girls, so she dressed Mary in boy's clothes and made her pretend to be her son. The mother-in-law was fooled and promised a crown a week to help support them. Mary continued to masquerade as a boy for many years, even after the old woman died and the financial aid ended. 

Then a teenager, Mary was hired out as a footboy to a French woman. But according to history, "here she did not live long, for growing bold and strong, and having also a roving mind, she entered herself on board a man-of-war, where she served some time; then quitted it." Still disguised as a male, she enlisted in a foot regiment in Flanders and later a horse regiment, serving in both with distinction. She fell in love with a fellow soldier, disclosed her true sex, and began dressing as a female. After their marriage, she and her husband became innkeepers, owning the Three Horseshoes near the castle of Breda in Holland. Unfortunately, he died young and her fortunes soon dwindled. 

She knew that life in the 1700s was much easier as a man than as a woman, so she reverted back to men's clothing and started her life over, this time going to sea on a Dutch merchant ship heading to the Caribbean. On one voyage, the ship was commandeered by English pirates with whom she sailed and fought until they accepted the King's pardon in 1718 and began operating as privateers. Soon afterwards, their ship was overtaken by Captain Jack Rackham's Vanity and, bored of the legitimate life, she again turned pirate. Anne Bonney was already part of Rackham's crew, and she and Mary quickly discovered each other's cross-dressing secret and became close friends. Despite her tough exterior, Mary found a lover on board and is said to have saved his life by protecting him from a threatened duel. She picked a fight with his opponent first and, with deadly use of her sword and pistol, ended his life before he could harm her husband-to-be. 

Both Anne and Mary were known for their violent tempers and ferocious fighting, and they shared a reputation as "fierce hell cats." Their fellow crewmembers knew that -- in times of action -- no one else was as ruthless and bloodthirsty as these two women were. Captain Jack, nicknamed "Calico Jack" for his love of colorful cotton clothing, was a well-known pirate in those days, but his reputation has survived through the ages primarily because of these two infamous women pirates on his crew. 

In late October 1720, Rackkam's ship was anchored off Point Negril, Jamaica, the pirates celebrating recent victories in their typical hard-drinking tradition. Suddenly a British Navy sloop -- the man-o-war Albion, headed by Captain Jonathan Barnet -- surprised them. The drunken male pirates quickly hid below deck, leaving only Anne and Mary to defend their ship. The women yelled at their pirate mates to "come up, you cowards, and fight like men," and then angrily raged against them, killing one and wounding several others. But the women were eventually overwhelmed by the British Navy, and the entire crew was captured and taken to Jamaica to stand trial. 

Captain Jack and the male members of his crew were tried on November 16, 1720, and were sentenced to hang. Anne was allowed to visit her lover in his cell before his execution, and instead of the consoling, loving words he was undoubtedly expecting, her scathing comments live on throughout history: "Had you fought like a man, you need not have been hang'd like a dog." 

Anne and Mary were tried one week after Rackham's death and were also found guilty. But at their sentencing, when asked by the judge if they had anything to say, they replied, "Mi'lord, we plead our bellies." Both were pregnant, and since British law forbade killing an unborn child, their sentences were stayed temporarily. 

Mary is said to have died of a violent fever in the Spanish Town prison in 1721, before the birth of her child. Other reports say she feigned death and was sneaked out of the prison under a shroud. 

No record of Anne's execution has ever been found. Some say that her wealthy father bought her release after the birth of her child and she settled down to a quiet family life on a small Caribbean island. Others believe that she lived out her life in the south of England, owning a tavern where she regaled the locals with tales of her exploits. 

And yet others say Anne and Mary moved to Louisiana where they raised their children together and were friends to the ends of their lives.

Cute 'n Funny Cars

Car ato kita sebut Mobil ato kendaraan roda empat..

Pasti udah ga aneh donk naik mobil, liat mobil ato pun beli mobil..

Di Indonesia udah padet banget kita liat nya ampir semua orang pake mobil yah at least naik kendara an umum pun mobil khan.. hehhe..

Nah selain mobil-mobil yang pada umumnya ada di jalan-jalan sampe bozeenn liat nya, ada juga mobil yag di modifikasi. Kadang mobil-mobil yang di modifikasi ituch suka jadi anech-anech bentuknya.. ada yang asli jadi KEREN buangetzz ada juga yang jadi agag-agag anechh Hmmm.. 

Well.. Hari ini gue mo bahas mobil-mobil yang di modif truz bentuknya (kata gue sichhh..) jadi agag anech, lucu ato mungkin imut-imut ^^

Kata ‘Halloween’ barasal dari All Hallows Eve (malam mensucikan), karena keesokan harinya adalah hari peringatan untuk menghormati orang suci bagi umat Kristiani (All Saints Day). Salah satu cerita mengatakan bahwa Halloween diperkenalkan oleh bangsa Celtik di Irlandia yang percaya bahwa pada tanggal 31 Oktober malam roh-roh orang yang sudah meninggal gentayangan untuk merasuki tubuh mereka yang masih hidup.

Tentu saja mereka tak mau dirasuki oleh roh-roh gentayangan tersebut. Karena itu ketika malam sudah mulai mengintip tanggal 31 Oktober, para penduduk desa mematikan api yang menyala dalam dalam rumah sehingga tubuh mereka dingin dan roh tidak mau memasukinya. Mereka kemudian berpakaian yang menakutkan dan berkeliling desa dengan suara gaduh untuk menakut-nakuti roh gentayangan yang ingin merasuki tubuh mereka.

Sejumlah sumber mengatakan bahwa bangsa Celtik akan membakar mereka yang kerasukan sebagai pelajaran bagi roh-roh lainnya agar tidak berani merasuki. Sumber lainnya mengatakan itu hanya mitos saja. Kebiasaan merayakan Halloween dibawa ke Amerika oleh para imigran Irlandia yang mengalami bencana kelaparan di tahun 1840an.

Akan tetapi kebiasaan trick-or-treat dipercaya berasal dari budaya bangsa Eropa abad ke sembilan. Mereka merayakan hari roh tiap tanggal 2 November dengan cara berjalan dari desa ke desa meminta ‘kue roh’ yang berupa roti dengan kismis. Semakin banyak kue yang mereka dapat, semakin banyak pula doa yang akan mereka panjatkan untuk keluarga yang sudah meninggal dari si pemberi kue. Dengan demikian diharapkan roh mereka akan langsung masuk ke surga dan tidak gentayangan lagi.

Lentera dalam labu kuning diperkirakan berasal dari budaya rakyat Irlandia. Ada cerita rakyat tentang seorang lelaki bernama Jack yang pemabuk dan penipu. Suatu hari ia membujuk setan untuk naik ke sebuah pohon. Setelah setan tersebut berada di atas pohon, Jack mengukir salib di batang pohon tersebut sehingga setan tak bisa turun dan terjebak di atas.

Ketika meninggal, Jack tidak boleh masuk surga karena kelakuannya yang ugal-ugalan sewaktu hidup, tapi juga tidak bisa masuk ke neraka karena telah memperdayai setan. Setan kemudian memberi Jack bara api untuk menerangi jalannya yang gelap dan dingin. Agar bara api diletakkan di dalam lobak agar bisa menyala terus. Ketika para imigran Irlandia datang ke Amerika mereka lebih mudah menemukan labu kuning daripada lobak. Akhirnya sampai sekarang labu kuning yang dipakai sebagai Jack-O-Lantern.

Jadi walaupun sejumlah kelompok pemuja setan dan sejenisnya memperlakukan Halloween sebagai hari raya utama, tapi praktek-praktek negatif berbau kesetanan tidak berkembang. Yang berkembang adalah ritual untuk memperingati tahun baru bangsa Celtic.
