Big, Bigger, Biggest Government

What a wonderful opening sentence to this Associated Press article:

"President Barack Obama as well as Democratic liberals and moderates all found something to like Wednesday in an emerging compromise to expand the role of government in the nation’s health care system."

Just what Main Street USA needs, more government involvement – in anything, much less health care.

Especially considering the inflated number of uninsured Americans (see previous post).

For those non-believers, just wait, if our government gets involved in health care there will be more income taxes, more consumption taxes, more excise taxes, and more hidden taxes implemented to foot the gargantuan One Trillion Dollar price-tag. (And a lot of them will come to us courtesy of earmarks, tagged on to other legislation.)

And that unfathomable 13-figure estimate is assuming government projections for revenue and expense are on target. Unfortunately, our elected officials and their hired and appointed staff do not have a sterling record in that area.

We really should heed the advice and wisdom of our Founding Fathers, such as, "Most bad government has grown out of too much government." - Thomas Jefferson

And Main Street USA is experiencing way too much government.

Where does it stop?

As stated before, there may be a time we see Uncle Sam’s Gas Station and Convenience Stores because some special interests do not like oil companies and they convince our Executive and Legislative branches that "things go better with more government."

Hopefully members of the Senate will come to their senses.

We can only hope.

Over For Now.
